Something must Know for Patients with Hereditary Nephritis

What is Hereditary Nephritis? just as its name implies, Hereditary Nephritis is a kind of hereditary disease. The “sex-linked dominant inheritance” is the main mode of inheritance. It means that if mom got this disease, the possibility of getting this disease for her son or daughter is 50%. That’s why some of family members of patients also can develop this disease. If the creatinine(High Creatinine Level) level of patient is high, just as we told every patient, the kidney is an organ with strong reserve capacity, actually, we just use less than 50% of renal function on daily life, so if creatinine rises, it means that kidneys are damaged more than 50%. If proteinuria and high creatinine level occur, now what patient should do is to prevent the further damage of renal cells, repair damaged renal cells and block the fibrosis. Actually, according to the research, only 3% patients of Hereditary Nephritis could finally receive dialysis and kidney transplant, (this data maybe different from region to region), so maybe some doctors do not think it is serious. Our suggestion is: first, select correct treatment which is focus on repairing renal cells, and adjusting internal environment instead of controlling symptoms (Proteinuria and Kidney Disease) only, because patients must understand that proteinuria is just the symptom of Hereditary Nephritis, which means there are damage on renal cells, if we can not repair renal cells, once we stop using prednisone, proteinuria will relapse again.
Second, follow a healthy diet and life style, a correct diet and life style is important for kidney disease patients, what they eat and how much they eat will have an effect both on patients’ kidney condition and whole physical condition. Unhealthy food and life style will increase the burden of kidney and aggravate disease.
