Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

If we have Diabetes, then we are at increased risk for developing Chronic Kidney Disease and the risks increases with the length of time that we have Diabetes. Well then are there any things we can do to prevent getting Chronic Kidney Disease? Of course, prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease can be done from the following three aspects.
First of all, we can start with our daily life by reducing the possible risk factors. Diabetes is bound up with the intake of calorie, obesity, overnutrition and lack of exercises, so in our daily life, we should try to reduce the intake of calorie and form the “three low and one high” dietary habit which refers to low-salt, low-sugar, low-fat and high-fibre. Eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Moreover, do some moderate sports activities every day.
Secondly, control high blood sugar by receiving treatment actively. Long-term high blood sugar is the root cause of Diabetic Nephropathy which is one of the common Chronic Kidney Disease. Besides, Diabetes damages small blood vessels throughout the body, affecting the kidneys as well as other organs and tissues including skin, nerves, and muscles, causing a series of serious complications. Thereby, receiving treatment not only brings Diabetes under control, but also helps us avoid suffering from other diseases.
Thirdly, according to the research, about 75pervent of adult with Diabetes have high blood pressure and high blood pressure has been one of the most important predictor for Diabetes developing Chronic Kidney Disease. Thereby, detection and control of blood pressure is very important for us. Usually, we can take some antihypertensive medicines to control our blood pressure.

By doing above several things, the morbidity of Chronic Kidney Disease caused by Diabetes can be reduced greatly. On the basis of researches, about one third of people with Diabetes will eventually develop Chronic Kidney Disease and symptoms such as swelling, protein in urine, itching, vomiting, nausea, high blood pressure(High Blood Pressure and Kidney Disease) and blurred vision usually indicating Chronic Kidney Disease.
