Terrible Complications of Diabetes

With the development of diabetes, there will be some complications, which go as follows:
Firstly, diabetic nephropathy is a common complication. In America, every year, 4,000 people die of it. Diabetes can make the walls of micro-blood vessels become fragile and tough. Gradually, the wall of micro-blood vessels become narrow and blocked. In the early stage, when blood flows through renal glomeruli, a large amount of nutritious substances will leak out such as albumin. Albumin is the important materials which can maintain the human body’s life. In normal condition, albumin can not leak out. When diabetes develops into diabetic nephropathy, albumin will leak out. With patient’ condition becoming more and more serious, there will be other kinds of molecules leaking out such as protein, red blood cells, white blood cells. In the end stage, with more and more renal glomeruli are damaged, diabetic nephropathy will take place.
So diabetes patients who have more than 5 years’ diabetes are suggested to have renal function test. In the early stage, there is nearly no symptoms, so test is essential such as renal function test, protein in urine in 24hours, blood pressure and so on, especially trace albumin test.
Secondly, diabetic retinopathy is another complication of diabetes, which even can also lead people to be blind. The earlier we find it out, the earlier we get rid of it. Nearly all of them have symptoms such as cataract, glaucoma, optic atrophy, etc. Diabetics are more likely to have the above mentioned symptoms than those who do not have diabetes.

Thirdly, diabetic foot is also complication, which is caused by blood vessels lesion, or nerve lesion or infection.
